I grew up in Poquoson in the neighborhood of Alphus and Smith Street. When I was a young child a white figure entered my room when I was in bed. In my teen years, something placed its hand on my shoulder two different times. Not in a hostile sort of way but in more of a reassuring sort of way. My friend would occasionally spend the night and we would hear a bell ringing or cabinets opening and shutting. A little ways down the street, we would play in the marshes and woods. We once heard a person calling for help but never saw them and they never responded to us. Later that day, we were talking in woods in the same area and we heard a very evil sounding laugh that came out of no where. My family later moved to a different area of Poquoson and I had no more experiences.

I have heard alot of great stories out of the Poquoson area. I believe that is definitely one of the most haunted areas in Hampton Roads.

I'm new to this and not sure that i'm doing it right... but we've had some haunted experiences in the Denbigh section of Newport News.
My mom and dad lived in the beechmont section, near Nelson school. They had many encounters with spirits.
My mom was constantly awoken by someone nudging on her shoulder while she was sleeping. Also, there were many times when she was in bed she would feel someone sit at the bottom edge of the bed near her feet. When she'd look, nothing was there.
They both heard people call out to them on numerous occasions. Many times it was loud enough to wake them in the middle of the night.
My dad heard music once, and went into the bedroom and found that a jewelry box had been opened and a drawer pulled out, to have the music play.
I slept over once, and while sleeping on the couch in the living room, I heard someone knock on the door. I woke up, and realized that it wasn't the front or back door, it was the door that lead from the kitchen into the garage. I ran in and woke my mom up and told her someone was knocking. We both went in and heard it- it was a violent knock- not just a tap. So we went to get my dad. Of course, the first thing he did was open the door. Nothing was there. The garage was empty and all locked up.
Once when we entered the garage, the window and the floor near the window, were covered in dead flies.
Once my dad was in the kitchen and he felt something flutter past his neck- sort of like someone flipping up the back of his hair. Of course, nothing was there.
They finally had enough, and decided to move out of the house. They now live in a condo near me.
Does anyone know anything about the Denbigh area possibly being haunted??

I live in Virginia Beach in an older apartment complex behind Town Center and I'm having what seems to be an escalating problem. I'm not sure if this is what caused the "haunt" or if it's related at all, but in my mind it started around the time I brought an old 1920's baby carraige home from my mother's. Once I got it in the house I didn't like it. I knew it was in the hallway, but everytime I walked out into the hallway I would jump at it's presence. I also never felt alone when it was there and started to see a shadow watching me from the hallway at night from the corner of my eye. Very uncomfortable. So, I went online to see what I should do about it. I came home grabbed the baby carraige and asked for whatever it was to leave and then I took the d**n thing to the trash can (I think I shouldn't have asked it to leave before removing the carriage...I think whatever it was left the carriage and is now in my apt.) After I got back from the dumpster I went around the house in every room asking/telling whatever it was that this was my house and it had to leave. The air about the apt was thick and I could almost see particles. Very strange.
Fast forward a couple of months to now: I still have the feeling and am seeing the shadow watching me from the corner of my eye. On Saturday evening my boyfriend went outside to smoke and I was in the bedroom watching the tv. I was starring out into the hallway and I noticed the walls and doorway appeared to be breathing. Normal shadows appeared to be moving as well. I got dressed and went outside to tell my boyfriend and when he came in he could see it too. When we turned the ligths out it looked like everything was covered in a gray mist. He told me the next day that he felt like something was watching him and he kept seeing a black figure out of the corner of his eye.
Now fast forward to last night. I was in the living room and my boyfriend was in the bedroom. It felt as though someone walked past me from behind, but there was no one there. So I put my back to the wall to finish reading. The front door and the door to the closet started the movement that I had been seeing from the hallway. So, I decided to join my boyfriend in the bedroom where he preceded to tell me he was seeing balls of light moving around in the hallway. We sat in bed and starred into the hallway for a while. There were balls of light flying around everywhere and what appeared to be falling glitter. The glitter was making it's own light. It was like something was trying to gain enough energy to form. It's almost like you were looking into another dimension. With the mist and the movement of the walls and doorways and now the glitter orbs. Then to top it all off when my boyfriend went to stand in the hallway a beer bottle in the kitchen was knocked over. He was in the hallway I could see him and no where near the kitchen. I and he have asked this thing to leave several times. If I saw this in someone elses house I might have thought it was neat or beautiful even, but it's not when it's your home and you just want it to go away. It just seems to be getting worse and worse and I am doing my best to not let it scare me b/c I've read that fear can give it energy (which honestly sounds kind of bogus considering all emotions carry energy and what if I was stoked it was there...that would be energy too!). Anyway, unless this thing wants to pay rent...it needs to take a hike!
I can be contacted at: blondevigilante@gmail.com
If this continues to get worse I'm going to need help!

I live in a neighborhood off Salem and Lynnhaven. My house is 31 years old. I believe 2 families have lived in my house. I have noticed several things going on here. I ocassionally smell fire like the house is burning down. Which in turn causes me to panic. My Dh has noticed that as well. We used to have a automatic light which had a sensor that in the middle of the night would turn on and off several times. Needless to say we don't use it anymore. That's was just to freaky. My mother and sister have seen and heard things in my house. My sister has seen things move across my room over my garage. My sister on more than one ocassion has heard noises while house sitting for me. She will not be alone in my house. I myself have spent 6 months alone with my kids while my dh was deployed. I heard noises and actually saw a standing in the doorway of my bedroom. I don't feel threatened by it. I just know it's there. My kids are afraid to go upstairs by themselves. This just started happening. I keep my dogs always around me. I think they are sensitive to all of this. I can be reached at blu_eyed_catgirl@yahoo.com . I would be interested in anyone opionions about what is going on here!!
